Jayda Moss is from Kansas City, Kansas. She is a health science major with an emphasis in Leadership and policy and has a minor in economics. After graduation, she plans to attend graduate school.
Jayda’s advice for new students is to not rush the process of college.
“Not everyone has everything figured out when they first arrive at college,” she says. “College can be a big adjustment in a student’s life. Take your time to explore different pathways and experience different opportunities to figure out what is best for you!”
In addition to serving on the School of Health Professions Student Ambassador Leadership Team, Jayda is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., the GraduateAssociation Student Board, and volunteers with various organizations on campus. In her free time, Jayda loves to enjoy the company of her friends and family.
What made you choose Mizzou?
Mizzou felt like a great opportunity for a fresh start. It presented me with so many options to
explore what career would fit me best. A big bonus was also having the opportunity to study away from home but close enough to still visit family.
If you could give one piece of advice to incoming freshmen, what would it be?
I would say to take your time. This applies to everything. Take your time finding out what major/career pathway suits you. Take your time to explore campus and find organizations you love and align with your passions. And most importantly take time to find yourself, and others who you know will support you. Give yourself time.
If you could have dinner with one famous Mizzou graduate, who would it be and why?
I would like to have dinner with Nischelle Turner. I would love to hear about her journey on how she became a successful journalist and T.V. icon. And of course, I would want to hear about her own Mizzou stories.
What is your favorite ice cream/coffee shop in CoMo?
My favorite ice cream place in CoMo is Buck’s Ice Cream Place of course! I love tiger stripe ice cream, it’s a classic!
Where is your favorite place to study on campus?
My favorite place to study on campus is Bookmark Café in the lower level of Ellis Library. I love the coffeehouse vibes but the quietness the library has to offer.
