Yoseph Gebrehiwot, from Columbia, Missouri, is a Health Science major with an emphasis in health and wellness. After graduation, he plans to attend Occupational Therapy School.

Yoseph’s best advice for incoming Mizzou CHS students is to get involved. “There are many opportunities for involvement at Mizzou and there’s always something for everyone,” he says. “The more that you get involved, the more that Mizzou truly feels like home. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone and try something new. Enjoy every moment, it all goes by so fast.”

In addition to serving on the CHS Student Ambassador Leadership Team, Yoseph is a volunteer with Mizzou’s Adaptive Swim Program where he helps teach kids on the autism spectrum how to swim. He is also involved with a student religious organization called the Salt Company.

Why did you choose to pursue a career in healthcare?

I want to pursue a career in healthcare because I have a desire to give back to all communities and I’ve always loved seeing how healthcare has impacted and changed so many lives. I also wanted to pursue a career path where I’m constantly learning new things.

What is your favorite Mizzou memory?

My favorite Mizzou memory is homecoming, it’s always so fun to see the campus and downtown all decorated as well as participating in Mizzou homecoming festivities. It’s always fun to see how current students and Mizzou alumni come together to cheer on the Tigers.

What is your favorite ice cream spot in Columbia?

My favorite ice cream spot is Andy’s, I always love a good classic tiger streak and there are many options to choose from.
