Alice Townsend has been named director of the MU undergraduate Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound (DMU) program, effective Sept. 1. She will start Aug. 8 to transition in this role before Moses Hdeib retires.

“Alice comes to CDS with successful program director experience, recent clinical management experience, and familiarity with the MU DMU program,” said Kathy Moss, Clinical & Diagnostic Sciences department chair and clinical professor. “I am confident she has the tools to guide the DMU program into the future.”

Townsend graduated from the MU DMU program in 2008. She has five years of experience as assistant manager of an imaging center and six years of experience as director of a successful undergraduate diagnostic medical ultrasound program at State Fair Community College. She holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Columbia College and multiple professional credentials from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

“I’m very excited to be returning to the University of Missouri this fall as the DMU program director,” Townsend said. “It’s an exciting time for the field of sonography with more opportunities available to DMU graduates than ever before. I look forward to building upon the strong foundation constructed by Dr. Hdeib over the past 17 years.”
