Alumni spotlight: Troy Lambert, MHA 2023
Nov. 6, 2024
Name: Troy Lambert
Title: Vice President of Primary Care Operations, Compass Health Network
Mode of MHA degree: Executive
What have you been up to since graduating from the MHA program at Mizzou?
Continuing to work in the Federally Qualified Health Care (FQHC) realm assisting the underserved population across Missouri. Expanding primary care and dental services in multiple regions of Missouri to include full tele-health primary care to supplement our tele-health psychiatry.
When it comes to your career so far, what are you most proud of?
The ability and privilege to provide quality care to underserved populations with the same innovation and evidence-based practices found at any other health care organization.
How did your experiences in the MHA program prepare you for your career?
I feel my experience would differ from most that go through the program, as I was already working at the senior management/C-suite level. Even working in that environment, the knowledge and experience of the program only enhanced my ability to succeed in health care management. In addition, the connections with other students provides an intangible learning experience.
What advice do you have for MHA students who want to follow a similar career path?
Don’t be afraid to fail, both in class and out. In the program, it is the best opportunity to grow and learn from instructors and classmates. Medicine is a dynamic field and requires flexibility and open-mindedness in tackling barriers we all face. The MHA program at Mizzou provides the tools, instruction and exposure to thrive in the current medical landscape.
What is a favorite memory from your time in the program or a class that you really enjoyed?
While there are many, the most valuable item I took from the class was the sharing of knowledge and experience with classmates from a very diverse background.
Why should potential students get their MHA from Mizzou?
I have recommended this program to many of my employees looking to advance their career. The support and structure from faculty is outstanding and are all dedicated to the success of every student. The knowledge of the faculty is grounded in academic and real-world experience, providing a unique advantage for prospective students.
