Dee Sharrock: New faculty Q&A

Aug. 30, 2022

Assistant Clinical Professor, Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound

What classes are you teaching this semester?

Normal Ultrasound Clinical DMU 3309

Problems in DMU (WI) DMU 4085W

Ultrasound Clinical II DMU 4493

What do you love about teaching? What are you most looking forward to?

I love helping students acquire skills in the scan lab! I am looking forward to the progress the students will make over the course of the semester.

Tell us a little about yourself! What is your background?

I have been working as an ultrasound technologist at MU Health Care for the last 13 years. Prior to that, I worked within the world of Animal Science. I have also been teaching online as an adjunct for State Fair Community College ultrasound program for the last 5 years.

When you are not teaching, what are you up to?

I ride horses with my husband and daughter, and I compete in barrel racing. I also enjoy working out, reading and spending time with friends and family. I am also actively involved at Redeemer Church of Moberly.

What brought you to Mizzou? To your field?

I have always loved Mizzou! I have two degrees from here and have worked for MU Health Care for a long time. My start in Animal Science is what brought me to ultrasound. I used ultrasound for research in horses and cattle before I came back to Mizzou for my master’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound.

What is a fact about you that your students might not expect?

I had no idea who did ultrasound exams on people before I was about 25 years old!
