Katelyn Mwangi: New faculty Q&A

Aug. 31, 2022

Assistant Teaching Professor, Occupational Therapy

What classes are you teaching this semester?

I am teaching in the Bachelors of OTA and Entry-Level Doctorate programs this semester.

  • OTA Program: Evidence-Based Practice
  • OTD Program: Human Motion and Occupation, Neuroscience, and Practicum II

What do you love about teaching? What are you most looking forward to this semester?

I enjoy seeing students passionate about learning and translating their knowledge to impact clinical care. The lightbulb moments in the classroom are my favorite! This semester, I’m looking forward to seeing students grow and expand their knowledge of foundational occupational therapy concepts.

Tell us a little about yourself! What is your background?

I have been an Occupational Therapist since 2015 and worked in clinical practice until 2020, when I made the shift towards academia. I’ve worked clinically in both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, primarily with individuals diagnosed with neurological conditions. I’ve worked at Mizzou since January 2022 and am very thankful for the supportive faculty and amazing students!

When you are not teaching, what are you up to?

Walking my dogs, baking new recipes, and reading or listening to audiobooks
