The MU School of Health Professions is proud to announce Mizzou’s Inclusive Early Start Program (MIESP).

MIESP is a student success initiative open to all incoming first-year undergraduate students at the University of Missouri.

“Our goal is to educate incoming Mizzou students about resources and strategies critical for academic and personal success during college and beyond,” says Tommy Thomas III, diversity initiatives coordinator for the School of Health Professions.

The program, which is specifically designed through the lens of underrepresented students, offers an opportunity to enhance knowledge of campus and the university through an exploration of six topics: wellness and well-being, spaces, involvement, faculty interaction, finances and resilience.

Participating students will access the program content through a Canvas site coordinated and facilitated by MU staff from the Center for Academic Success & Excellence, College of Education, Division of Inclusion, Diversity & Equity, and School of Health Professions.

Students who complete the program will receive a certificate and an invitation to an in-person celebration.

“This program will assist in jumpstarting the academic careers for traditionally underserved and underrepresented students at the University of Missouri,” Thomas says. “It is a collaboration to provide a well-rounded, student-focused informational experience.”
