New Faculty Spotlight: Marie Meadors

Sept. 11, 2020

What is your title with Health Professions?

Assistant Professor of Instruction / Clinical Coordinator, Radiography

What classes are you teaching this semester?

RS 3110 Procedures 1, RS 3180 Procedures 2, RS 3941 Clinical Education 1

What do you love about teaching?

The students desire to learn keeps me engaged. I hope my love for working in the medical field rubs off on them.

Tell us a bit about yourself! What’s your background?

I have 36 years working as a Radiology Technologist and 18 years as an Instructor and Clinical Coordinator of a Radiology Technologist Program. I enjoyed working with students from various programs while working at the hospital. Eventually I had my own students while working at Kishwaukee College. I love working in the medical field, knowing you are contributing to improving someone’s health and wellbeing, no matter what shape or form is comes in or to what extent, gives me a great sense of pride and satisfaction.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Spend time with friends and my fiancé.  I also enjoy weekends with my two grandboys.

What brought you to Mizzou?

I am from the middle of Illinois, in the northern portion. I did not like being so far from my grand-babies and son in St. Charles, Mo., so I began looking for jobs in the southern part of Illinois and Missouri. For my last chapter of my career as an educator, I wanted it to be working for a university. Mizzou gave me the opportunity to complete my last chapter of my career the way I wanted it to be and now I am much closer to my son and grandchildren.
