School of Social Work hiring faculty member to coordinate practicum placements

The School of Social Work (SSW) in the College of Health Sciences at the University of Missouri (MU) – Columbia invites applications for individuals interested in supporting and coordinating practicum experiences for students.
The position is for an Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor which is a 12-month, 1.0 FTE Ranked, Non-Tenure Track teaching appointment.

- Represent the practicum education program at all school meetings and events and relevant community events.
- Maintain outreach to alumni and community organizations to represent and promote the SSW.
- Develop and evaluate policy related to the delivery of practicum education.
- Develop new field placement sites and maintaining existing placement relationships.
- Organize, plan, and facilitate field orientations for students and field instructors.
- Match students with available agencies and field instructors for practicum placements.
- Coordinate the completion of preplanning field paperwork as required by the SSW and the Council on Social Work Education.
- Consult with field agencies regarding student related concerns with placement and address grievances proactively to insure appropriate resolution.
- Serve as faculty liaison for BSW and MSW practicums.
- Provide group supervision for field students as needed.
- Serve on committees at the School, College and Campus levels including the BSW and MSW Program Committees and the Practicum Committee.
- Maintain field competency data and accreditation documentation as required by the Council of Social Work Education and other accrediting bodies.
- Obtain and maintain online teaching certificate and attend instruction development trainings.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates should possess at minimum a Master’s of Social Work (MSW) and 5 years post MSW social work experience, including experience with field education, specifically as a faculty liaison and/or substantial supervision of social work students in field placements.
Candidates will be evaluated on their ability to teach Practice and Clinical courses as well as a comfort with teaching online classes. Strong written and verbal skills are necessary. Evidence of service systems and agencies across the state of Missouri is beneficial as well. Candidates should be comfortable using Office applications, e.g., MS Word and MS Excel, along with online database systems. Exceptional problem-solving and collaboration skills as well as the ability to manage multiple demands and responsibilities simultaneously are important.
