This story is part of the School of Health Professions Season of Giving series in which we highlight scholarship recipients who are driven by giving back – to their patients and clients, and to their communities. Thanks to the generosity of scholarship donors, recipients are not only able to focus on their education, but also enrich their communities through their passion and their work.

It’s a cycle of generosity that just keeps giving.

Mitch Vandel-Holm is a Physical Therapy student who received the Raymond E. Hogue Physical Therapy Founders scholarship.

As he works to support himself and his wife while also being a student, he says this scholarship will be an incredible help to their family. Vandel-Holm and his wife moved to Columbia to for their degrees, and they’re passionate members of the community as a whole.

After he graduates, Vandel-Holm has his sights set on the outpatient orthopedic sector of Physical Therapy, and also hopes to eventually open his own practice.

“My hope is that I can stake out my own little corner of the world to help others and be able to adapt to the needs of my patients,” said Vandel-Holm.
