2024 Speech & Language Summer Camps

The MU Speech and Hearing Clinic is excited to announce its Summer Camp 2024 offerings. This year, three different camps will take place throughout July and will serve second graders through teens with varied programming. All camps will feature small and large group activities along with individualized instruction. Please see below for details on each camp.

Camp Connect

Camp Connect

This intensive week of making social connections through fun activities and collaboration at the MU Speech and Hearing Clinic is geared toward tweens and teens. Join us to develop strategies for improving your ability to CONNECT with others using language and team building.

Camp details:

  • When: July 22-26, 1–4 p.m.
  • Where: Lewis Hall on MU Campus
  • Who: Tweens and teens
  • What: Small and large group activities, individualized instruction
  • Cost: $250

Camp Iceberg

Camp Iceberg

This week-long intensive program at the MU Speech and Hearing Clinic is designed to help your child learn more about stuttering and how people live and thrive with stuttering!

Camp details:

  • When: July 15-19, 1-4 p.m.
  • Where: Lewis Hall on MU Campus
  • Who: 2nd grade through middle school ages
  • Cost: $250

Camp Code Breakers

Camp Code Breakers

Camp Code Breakers is the perfect tune-up for children who can benefit from a boost in language and literacy learning this summer. Join us for a week of opportunities designed to increase confidence in the areas of spelling, vocabulary, phonics knowledge, and word identification skills.

Camp details:

  • When: July 8-12, 1–4 p.m.
  • Where: Lewis Hall on MU Campus
  • Who: Ages 8-10 (3rd-5th grade)
  • Cost: $250

Additionally, Dr. Laura Morett with the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences will host a fully funded camp for young children. See below for the full details, including eligibility criteria and registration information.

Register for Brain Camp

Brain Camp

This intensive week of lessons related to neuroscience and speech, language and hearing science is geared toward young children between the ages of 5 and 10. Campers will spend part of their day learning and the remainder participating in educational activities like making candy neurons and brain T-shirts.

To be eligible for this camp, students must meet the following criteria:

  • ASD diagnosis (week 1) or no ASD diagnosis (week 2) 
  • Right-handed
  • No vision, hearing or motor impairments
  • No speech, language or reading disorders
  • No antipsychotic medication
  • No co-occurring neurological or medical conditions 

Camp details:

  • When: June 17-21 (week 1) and June 24-28 (week 2), 8 a.m.–4 p.m.
  • Where: Clark Hall on MU Campus
  • Who: Ages 5-10
  • Cost: FREE
