Why did you choose Health Science at Mizzou?
I toured many schools while deciding where I wanted to attend college. I never felt at home at any
university other than Mizzou. I loved the beautiful campus, the college town, and the abundance of
health science opportunities! I initially came in as a Biological Science major, but after taking a class
in the College of Health Sciences, I realized that it provided a holistic approach between the medical
sciences and the patient interactions that I would be experiencing! The College of Health Sciences
has so many resources and pathways; I knew it would set me up well for my future career as a
Physician Assistant.
What makes Mizzou feel like home?
One thing I think is so special about Mizzou is how many ways there are to get involved, and
that’s a big part of what has helped me find my place here. I am in Greek Life and serve as a
sub-committee chair for our Career and Personal Development cabinet position, as well as a
Study Sister who mentors younger members in the same major. I am also a member of the
Pre-PA Club and volunteer at the MedZou clinic. Joining these organizations has helped me find
my smaller circles on campus, meet people with similar interests, and truly feel at home at
Mizzou.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
My advice to incoming students would be to stay open-minded and take things one step at a
time. I often felt overwhelmed during my freshman year because I felt like I needed to have
everything figured out. However, this is not the case. During my first year, I took Health Science
1000, which is a class that helps you explore different health science majors and careers. Staying
open-minded during this course helped me find my interests, and by working with my CHS
advisor, I was able to find my path without getting ahead of myself.
