Allie Brace is a Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences from Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Allie is interested in audiology, which means she primarily works with patients who have hearing, balance and ear disorders. Being deaf/hard of hearing herself, she is passionate about deaf advocacy.
“There is an activity or group for everyone at Mizzou,” she says. “This is why it’s such a great school to attend. No matter who you are or what your interests are, there are opportunities here. There are so many things to get involved with on campus that you can make your experience at Mizzou your own.”
Allie is a part of the ASL club on campus.
What made you choose Mizzou?
I chose Mizzou because it was the best fit for me! The College of Health Sciences instantly felt like home and a place I could thrive in. I was welcomed with open arms and love the SLHS program.
What is your advice for incoming Mizzou CHS students?
My advice for incoming students is to take a deep breath. You don’t have to know what you’re doing just yet. Everyone has been in your shoes- I remember feeling so overwhelmed and terrified before I even came to campus. Just know that you’re not alone in this. Your peers, friends, and I, etc., are here to help. You can do hard things!
What is your favorite place to eat in Columbia?
My favorite restaurant is Las Margaritas! I also absolutely adore Sparky’s ice cream.
