Why did you choose Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound at Mizzou?
I chose ultrasound at Mizzou because I wanted a hands-on healthcare career where I could really make a difference, and Mizzou’s program felt like the perfect fit. Growing up watching my mom work in healthcare showed me how meaningful patient care can be, and ultrasound gives me that same chance—helping people in a direct, personal way while using cool imaging technology. After shadowing in an ultrasound department, I knew this was exactly what I wanted to do.
What are you involved in on campus?
On campus, I’m involved in Sigma Eta Rho, a professional Health Science fraternity. I’m also part of the Honors College, which has been a huge influence on my experience here with its small, discussion-based classes that helped me come out of my shell. Getting involved in these communities has helped me build confidence, meet people who share my interests, and push myself to try new things. They’ve each played a big part in making Mizzou feel like home.
Tell us more about how you’ve gotten hands-on experience!
As a part of my shadowing experiences at Mizzou for the Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound program, I had the opportunity to observe current DMU students in their on-campus lab space. It was super insightful to see and talk to current students about what the program is really like and what my day-to-day would look like if admitted. I even had the opportunity to be a fake patient, as students practiced vascular ultrasound by scanning arteries in my leg. This experience was so cool and made me excited about my potential future!
