Why did you choose Health Science at Mizzou?
I chose the College of Health Sciences because of the flexibility it offers. Coming into college, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare, but I did not want to feel limited to one specific path before I was completely sure. The Health Science pre-professional track allowed me to explore different options while still staying on course academically. After my first semester, I knew I had made the right decision. The College of Health Sciences gave me confidence in my career goals while allowing room for growth and discovery
Tell us more about how you’ve gotten hands-on experience!
My favorite hands-on experiences have been my Global Medical Training (GMT) trip to the Dominican Republic and my weekly work as a medical assistant at The Senior Company. During my GMT trip, I had the opportunity to help provide care to underserved populations and gained a glimpse into what it is like to be a healthcare provider. This experience was incredibly impactful and solidified my desire to pursue a career in healthcare, as well as the “why” behind it. As a medical assistant, I have loved gaining confidence in my clinical skills and building meaningful relationships with my patients.
What are you involved in on campus?
I am involved in Greek Life at Mizzou. Being a part of a sorority has allowed me to meet incredible women while learning more about myself and growing as a leader. The encouragement and support within the chapter push everyone to be better. This past semester, I was elected Vice President of Recruitment, which has helped me expand my leadership skills while giving back to an organization that has given me so much. I am also involved in Mizzou’s Pre-Physician Assistant Club, which has been an amazing resource. Through this organization, I have gained mentors, heard from practicing PAs, and surrounded myself with individuals who share similar career goals.
