Carson Weiss, from Mascoutah, Illinois, is a Health Science major with a Pre-professional emphasis. After graduation, Carson plans to attend medical school to continue his journey of becoming a physician.
“I chose Mizzou because of its beautiful campus, welcoming vibe, and the fact that it is the perfect distance from home,” he says. “I chose my program because I wanted to pursue a career as a physician and get a better understanding of the healthcare system.”
Carson is the Secretary and Risk Management Officer for the medical fraternity on campus, Phi Delta Epsilon. He is also involved in a clinical volunteering program called Tigers Connect and plays intramural sports at the rec center.
Why did you choose to pursue a career in healthcare?
I wanted to pursue a career in healthcare because of my exposure to it, as my father and sister are registered nurses. I specifically want to pursue a career in sports medicine because I suffered repeated athletic injuries and would like to prevent or treat others with the same experience.
What dorm did you live in your freshman year?
During my freshman year, I lived in the College Avenue dorm and I really enjoyed living there.
What is your favorite study spot on campus?
My favorite study spot on campus would be Ellis Library because I prefer to study in a quiet area with few distractions
