Why did you choose Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences at Mizzou?
I chose to pursue Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences because helping people has always been a passion of mine. I love that this field allows me to improve someone’s quality of life while also helping them build confidence in themselves. One of the things that drew me to Mizzou specifically is the CHS community—everyone is so passionate about their field, and it’s incredibly motivating to be surrounded by people who want to make a real impact both in the community and after graduation. Being part of that environment made SLHS at Mizzou the perfect fit for me.
What are you involved in on campus?
On campus, I’m involved in Mizzou Club Tennis and Sigma Eta Rho, and I serve as a STRIVE Peer Mentor. I’m also a Language Partner and involved in the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA), which has helped me connect with other students in SLHS. In addition, I’m in Greek Life, where I’ve been able to build friendships within my sorority and get involved in campus events.
What advice do you have for incoming students?
My advice for incoming CHS students is to get involved—not just within your major, but across campus. Try out different clubs and organizations and find something you’re genuinely passionate about. Getting involved is the best way to make friends, discover new interests, and make Mizzou feel like home.
