Hope Keenan is a Pre-Clinical Laboratory Science major from Sherman, Illinois. Aside from being a CHS Ambassador, Hope also plays on an intramural volleyball team on campus.
“I have always found joy in helping others, so I knew some form of healthcare was always going to be my passion,” she says. “Even if I am only in the background of things without patient interaction, Clinical Lab Science will allow me to play a key role in patient care.”
Why did you choose Mizzou and your respective program?
I chose Mizzou because of the welcoming atmosphere, which assured me I could thrive both academically and socially on campus. I chose the Clinical Laboratory Science program after being informed about how it fit both my personality and future career goals. Clinical Lab science sparked my interest right away, as you are practically the “detectives” of the hospital.
What advice would you give to incoming students?
My best advice for incoming Mizzou CHS students would be to not be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. There are so many opportunities for everyone here on campus, it might just take some courage to get involved at first!
What is your go-to place for coffee in Columbia?
My favorite coffee spot in Columbia has to be Shortwave Coffee located downtown.
