Why did you choose Health Science at Mizzou?
I chose Health Science at Mizzou because it perfectly balances the two sides of why I want to go into healthcare. I’ve always loved the science behind medicine, but ultimately, I want to become a doctor because of the impact I can have on people’s lives. This major lets me take all the science courses I need for the MCAT and medical school, while also giving me the more holistic health science classes that help me understand more than just the science of healthcare.
Tell us more about how you’ve gotten hands-on experience!
My favorite hands-on experience has been volunteering with the Sports Medicine Team for Mizzou Football. As a student athletic trainer, I get to work inside the facility and interact closely with both the healthcare professionals who specialize in athletics and the athletes themselves—the exact population I hope to serve in the future. Growing up playing sports, and especially loving football, being in this environment again has been incredibly meaningful. Whether it’s workouts, practices, or game days, staying connected to the sports world while gaining real clinical experience is something I truly enjoy and value.
Why should future students choose Mizzou?
Future students should choose Mizzou because it’s the perfect mix of that classic Midwest feel, great academics, and the excitement of SEC athletics. Even though it’s a big campus, there are so many different ways to get involved that Columbia really does start to feel like home, no matter what you’re into. Being part of the pre‑medical society has helped me find my people and get connected right away, and there are tons of other groups and opportunities that make the school feel a lot smaller in the best way. Mizzou truly has a little bit of everything, and that’s what makes it such an awesome place to be.
