Joseph Davis, from St. Louis, is a Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences major with an emphasis in Clinical Laboratory Science. After graduation, Joseph plans to explore the pre-med field by studying dermatology or hematology in a laboratory environment.
“Don’t be afraid to take a risk,” he says. “There are many aspects of college I was hesitant about participating in, such as being an ambassador, due to my personality not being as outgoing as I felt it needed to be. However, I’m glad I took that risk and I’m lucky to be part of a group that shares a common goal as me. Don’t be afraid to put yourself out there.”
In addition to serving on the CHS Student Ambassador Leadership Team, Joseph is a CASE diversity scholar and is a member of the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students (MAPS) and the Overwatch club.
Why did you choose to pursue a career in healthcare?
I am a big science person but I believe healthcare is the future ultimately and I believe its importance will only grow from here. I am fond of helping people with skin disorders because I am fascinated with the epidermis as an organ.
Why should students choose Mizzou?
Students should choose Mizzou because of the multitude of opportunities to grow.
What is your favorite study spot on campus?
My favorite place to study on campus is the Memorial Student Union. I just like the vibe of a busy coffee/cafe area, it keeps me focused.
