Jourdan Dukes is from Kansas City, Missouri. She is a Health Science major with a Pre-dental emphasis. After graduation, she plans to pursue cosmetic dentistry and put smiles on people’s faces.
“I’ve always had a passion to help others. Growing up if someone ever needed a bandaid I was always there performing first aid,” she says. “But Dentistry really sparked my interest when I was young. I enjoyed going to the Dentist and observing the patient and doctor interactions. I felt that I could someday be a great care provider as well!”
Jourdan is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. Within this sorority, she focuses on sisterhood and service. She is also a member of MU P.A.S.S., where she spends time giving back to local high school girls through their mentoring program, and is an RA on campus, where her role is to be an advocate for Residential Life.
What is your best advice for incoming Mizzou CHS students?
I would recommend meeting with your academic advisor to let them know exactly what your career goals are. This will better help you set yourself up for success and allow you to take the necessary courses!
Why should students choose Mizzou?
Mizzou has a wonderful campus life and many opportunities to get involved!
What dorm did you live in your freshman year? Were you in a FIG?
I lived in Bluford and I was in a FIG! I learned so much in the FIG about healthcare and was able to explore more about different Medical degree programs.
What is your favorite study spot on campus?
My favorite study spot would be the study rooms in my dorms! This is because I can use the whiteboards and really spend as much time as I need there!
