Katrina Liffring

Katrina Liffring is from Omaha, Nebraska, and is majoring in Pre-Clinical Laboratory Science. Along with being a CHS ambassador, Katrina is a part of Tri Beta (biological science honor society) and Greek life, and she is an Undergraduate Research Scholar.

“I choose Mizzou because I wanted to go out of state and broaden my roots,” she says. “I chose the Clinical Laboratory Science program because it offered clinicals in the same town as the university. Mizzou was the perfect choice because it had three hospitals that I could do my clinicals at and allow me to stay in the same place for my entire college career.”

Why should students choose Mizzou?

Students should choose Mizzou because you can live your “college experience” to the fullest. Mizzou has so many ways you can get involved in your social life or professional life. It has clubs for everything to make your resume stand out or find friends. If you have a hobby, you can also continue here in college and not leave it behind in high school. I think Mizzou helps bridge the gap between high school and adult life, and provides resources for you to succeed.

What is your best piece of advice for incoming Mizzou CHS students?

GET SLEEP!!! I recommend to have later classes in the day and if you cannot go to bed early, find a way to sleep in to get around 8 hours of rest. I feel like it definitely made a difference for me when fighting burnout that carried on from high school and being able to feel like I am prepared for what the day has in store. I also recommend bringing a pair of clothing that you do not mind getting dirty because there have been instances where I volunteer to paint for an organization or volunteer with manual labor where I do not want to get any of my clothes dirty.

If you could have dinner with any Mizzou alum, who would it be and why?

Jon Hamm because I think he’s super cool and hopefully he can get me in the background on one of his movies.
