Why did you choose Health Science at Mizzou?
I chose Health Science at Mizzou because it lets me take all the science courses I need for dental school while also giving me a broader understanding of our healthcare system. Through my Health Science classes, I’ve learned how to think critically about different healthcare issues and how they impact real patients. I love that this major prepares me academically while also shaping the way I’ll approach patient care in the future.
Tell us more about how you’ve gotten hands-on experience!
My favorite hands-on experience so far has been working as an unlicensed dental assistant at a cosmetic dental clinic in Bloomington, Minnesota. I’ve had the chance to work with an exceptional dentist and team, and my time with Dr. Palmer has given me valuable hands-on experience. It has also helped me understand the flow, responsibilities, and day‑to‑day operations that come with running a private dental practice.
Why should future students choose Mizzou?
Future students should choose Mizzou because the opportunities here truly feel endless. No matter what you’re interested in, there’s a place for you to get involved and grow – I’ve loved being involved in Greek Life, the Pre-Dental Club, and the Newman Center ministry! In class, the professors are incredibly supportive and genuinely invested in each student’s success. They’re always willing to help, answer questions, and guide you toward the right resources. With such a welcoming community and so many ways to get connected, Mizzou makes it easy to find your path and feel at home.
