Mathew Kimaku is from Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He is a Health Science major with a pre-professional emphasis. He is also studying Nutrition and Exercise Physiology. After college, Mathew plans to attend medical school.
“I chose Mizzou because I saw how it fostered intellectual experiences and is incredibly student centered,” he says. ”I love my majors because they give me a wide scope of information about the healthcare field that I know I can use both now as a student and during my career as a physician.”
Mathew is involved in AASB which runs all of the major traditions at Mizzou while also coordinating with the Athletics department and alumni. He is also involved with MizzouThon which is a group that raises money for the women and children’s hospital here in Columbia.
What made you pursue a career in healthcare?
I have a deep desire to help and connect with the world around me and I love how impactful health care can be when done right.
What is your best advice for incoming Mizzou CHS students?
I would tell them to get involved and try to get into new experiences!
What dorm did you live in your freshman year?
I lived in Mark Twain (the best dorm ever).
What is your favorite study spot on campus?
The best study spot on campus is the cubicles on the 3rd floor of Ellis. You’re just smarter whenever you enter Ellis to study.
