Meghan Furno is a Health Science major with a Pre-Professional emphasis. She is from Schaumburg, Illinois, and chose Mizzou because of the campus and distance from her hometown. She likes that the Health Sciences degrees set you up for applying to medical school.
Meghan’s best piece of advice for incoming students is to not rush the process.
“Things take time and coming to college is going to be a change, but things will work out the way they are supposed to!”
What made you pursue a career in healthcare?
Both of my siblings are Type 1 Diabetic and it has always been a passion of mine to learn about their diagnosis and help with their medical needs when I could. I love the never ending learning that a career in healthcare provides too.
What other organizations on campus are you a part of and what do you do with that group?
I do research in a lab at the medical school on campus where I go in 2-3 times a week and help with ongoing research studies! I am a part of a lot of pre-med focused groups that welcome speakers and workshops for students who are interested in becoming doctors! I also am part of a college ministry where I have met some of my closest friends.
What is your favorite Mizzou memory?
Move in day or jumping in the fountain with my roommates during welcome week!
