Olivia Schafer, from Benton City, Missouri, is a Pre-Pharmacy major. She plans to earn her Doctorate of Pharmacy and then complete a two-year residency program. She wants to work as a pharmacist in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
“I find the way medications interact with one another and with the body to be fascinating,” she says. “During high school, I got a job as a pharmacy technician, which confirmed that pursuing pharmacy was the right career pathway for me.”
After learning about Mizzou’s Pre-Pharmacy program, Olivia decided to tour and fell in love with the campus and all it had to offer.
What is your favorite study spot on campus?
The best place to study on campus is the second floor of the Student Center. The couches are very comfortable, and there is a manageable level of white noise that isn’t as distracting as many might expect. Additionally, you can watch the lines at the restaurants, allowing you to grab food when the lines are shorter.
What is your best advice for incoming Mizzou CHS students?
My advice to incoming Health Science students is to relax and not stress about the entire process. The application, housing, and meal plan processes are meant to be easy, so do not worry too much about them.
What should make students choose Mizzou?
The environment at Mizzou is truly unique. Everyone is extremely welcoming, and there is a place for everyone here. The campus offers a wide variety of activities and clubs, catering to diverse interests. Whether you’re passionate about anatomy, gardening, or even pickles, you’ll find a community that suits you at Mizzou.
