Paige Thompson, from Mount Prospect, Illinois, is a Health Science major with an emphasis in Rehabilitation Science. After graduation, Paige plans on applying to physical therapy schools.
“I would advise new Mizzou CHS students to be open to all career fields. The majority of people in college end up changing their major, so, if you find yourself being drawn to another path, go for it,” she says. “I would also advise new students to get involved. The way I found the right career path for me was through my research internship and other student organizations. These opportunities will allow you to learn more about yourself and also meet new people!”
Paige is a member of her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, as well as the Mizzou Pre-Physical Therapy Organization. In addition, she is an E3 worship band member with Mizzou Catholic and a volunteer dance teacher with Centerstage Dance Mizzou.
Why did you choose to pursue a career in healthcare?
I had always had a passion for science and knew I wanted to go into the STEM field. In high school, I injured my foot while I was at dance practice and ended up going to physical therapy to get back on my feet. My physical therapist was very inspiring, and I could see myself in her shoes someday. This is why I chose to enter the healthcare field, specifically to become a Physical Therapist. I want to help and inspire people the way she inspired me. I also want to specialize in dancers as I danced for 15 years and would love to stay involved with that community.
What is your favorite study spot on campus?
My favorite study spot would have to be the bookmark! I love getting an iced coffee and getting a lot done at Ellis Library.
What dorm did you live in your freshman year?
I lived in the Mark Twain dorm during my freshman year and I loved it! I met my closest friends there.
