Why did you choose Health Science at Mizzou?
I chose Health Science at Mizzou because of its holistic approach. I’m not seen as just my GPA, but as a whole person with unique strengths and interests. The professors in the College of Health Sciences genuinely care about their students’ well-being and encourage continuous self-improvement. They emphasize understanding our individual strengths and applying them through teamwork, which is highly applicable to our future careers in healthcare.
What are you involved in on campus?
I am currently serving as the Vice President of the Pre-Physical Therapy Organization and am also an active member of Greek Life. I enjoy being involved at the Newman Center on campus, where I lead a Bible study. During my freshman year, I participated in undergraduate research through the FRIPS Biochemistry program. One of my favorite experiences has been volunteering as a dance teacher through Centerstage Dance Mizzou – it’s a student organization that offers free dance classes to kids from Pre-K through 5th grade, and we have a recital at the end of each semester!
Tell us more about how you’ve gotten hands-on experience!
My favorite hands-on experience was in the class Intro to Recreation for Individuals with Disabilities, where we got to learn how to play wheelchair basketball with Mizzou’s wheelchair basketball team! It was a fun and engaging way to actively learn about adaptive sports alongside my classmates.
