Sammy Altena

Sammy Altena is a Health Science major with a Pre-Professional emphasis from Sedalia, Missouri. After graduation, Sammy plans to attend PA school and then enjoy her career. Her advice to new students is to get involved!

“There are so many opportunities on campus to get involved not only in the College of Health Sciences, but all of Mizzou,” she says. “It is a great way to meet people and create those early connections.”

Sammy is a part of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority on campus.

Why did you choose Mizzou?

I chose Mizzou because I grew up coming to a lot of Mizzou events, as my mom is an alum. I already knew I loved the campus, and I knew they had a great program for what I wanted to do.

What made you want to pursue a career in healthcare?

I find the topic and science behind medicine to be so fascinating, which makes for very enjoyable learning. It is something that I can see myself doing and loving for the rest of my life.

What is your favorite study spot on campus?

ELLIS!!!!
