Tanner Neil, from Columbia, Missouri, is a Health Science major with a Pre-Professional emphasis. His plans after graduation are to attend medical school at Mizzou and become a physician. Tanner says he wants his life’s purpose to be about leaving a positive impact on people.
“I love science, I love people, and I want to leave a positive impression on the world, and I think medicine is the perfect field for me to do that in.”
What else are you involved with on campus?
I am a part of The Magical Moments Foundation. This is a club on campus that raises money for children in need of craniofacial surgery. We normally fundraise for one kid per semester, and we do a variety of occasions like movie nights, socials, volleyball,l and more. I am also a part of the Mizzou Run Club. Both of these clubs have been great places to find friends and also have a common goal.
What is your favorite study spot on campus?
My favorite study spot on campus is the basement of Mark Twain Hall. There, there is a large conference room with a large whiteboard that my classmates and I study in almost every night. When we don’t have tickets or can’t make the games, we sometimes bring a projector and watch the Mizzou athletics games.
What made you choose Mizzou and your respective program?
I was interested in many of Mizzou’s programs and the campus. As a pre-health professional, the Health Sciences, Pre-Professional Emphasis covered many of my bases when it came to classes and sciences. I love science, and the Health science-specific courses have taught me a lot about the field of medicine and the people involved in it.
