Aug. 28, 2025

Name: Kenya Hardiman-Buckner

Title: Reasonable Accommodation Coordinator, Department of Veterans Affairs

Mode of MHA degree: Executive

What have you been up to since graduating from the MHA program at Mizzou?
I’ve been focused on advancing my leadership skills through specialized leadership and public speaking
courses. I’ll be starting a Doctor of Health Administration (DHA) program this fall.

When it comes to your career so far, what are you most proud of?
I’m most proud of my ability to advocate for individuals, especially during this uncertain time, ensuring their
needs and voices are heard and supported.

How did your experiences in the MHA program prepare you for your career?
The MHA program sharpened my critical thinking and taught me to view healthcare from multiple angles,
combining research, analytics, policy, and people. I’ve found that this comprehensive approach has prepared
me to navigate complex issues.

What advice do you have for MHA students who want to follow a similar career path?
I would say that one would need to be receptive and flexible. Also, network and seek opportunities that are
outside of your norm.

What is a favorite memory from your time in the program or a class that you really enjoyed?
Hands down, meeting my classmate, Nicole Seamon. Who has become a great friend of mine. Health Care
Law and Health Policy & Politics were classes I enjoyed.

Why should potential students get their MHA from Mizzou?
The MHA program combines real-world experiences with healthcare informatics, which is a vital aspect of
healthcare now. Bonus, the professors were once in your shoes, so they are understanding and there for you
and want you to succeed.
