Faculty position

  • Hiring department: Health Sciences
  • Position: Full-time, 9-month, tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor
  • Research area: Health management and/or health policy
  • Anticipated start date: Aug. 1, 2025

We are seeking a dynamic and innovative scholar with an established research agenda in health management and/or health policy. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing the department’s research initiatives, fostering interdisciplinary collaborations, and mentoring the next generation of health professionals.

The Department of Health Sciences (DHS) is home to two flagship degree programs:

  1. Bachelor of Health Science in Health Sciences (BHS in HS): One of the largest undergraduate degree programs at MU, the BHS degree program provides students a broad overview of health care, preparing them for clinical and administrative careers or graduate school. The health sciences program offers four emphasis areas: health and wellness services, leadership and policy, pre-professional, and rehabilitation science.
  2. Master of Health Administration: Designed for those seeking leadership roles in healthcare management and policy, complementing our mission to prepare health professionals for diverse and impactful careers.

Key responsibilities

  1. Research Excellence
  • Maintain a robust research program in health management and/or health policy
  • Actively pursue and secure external funding through grants and contracts
  • Publish high-quality research in peer-reviewed journals
  • Engage in collaborative research projects within and beyond the department
  1. Teaching and Mentorship
  • Deliver engaging undergraduate and graduate courses
  • Develop and update curriculum to reflect current trends in health sciences
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment
  1. Service and Leadership
  • Participate in departmental, school, and campus-wide service activities
  • Engage in professional service within the field of health sciences and/or health policy

Qualifications

The minimum qualification for this position is a Doctorate level degree at the time of application.

Candidates will be evaluated on:

  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in research, as evidenced by publications and/or funded projects
  • Strong commitment to undergraduate/graduate education and mentorship
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Teaching competence in both in-person and online formats

Anticipated hiring range

Salary will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the applicant. The anticipated salary range for this position is $85,000 – $125,000, dependent upon the rank of the position offered.
