Campaign kick-off events

The College of Health Sciences will host several experiential activities as part of the University of Missouri’s Campaign For Mizzou kick-off weekend, Sept. 4-6, 2025.

These events will be hosted at Lewis and Clark Halls, 701 S. Fifth St., from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 5.

Meet facility dog Kelce and the Combs Language Preschool

Who: Christi Baker, MS, CCC-SLP, Combs Language Preschool Director & Associate Clinical Professor, Department of Speech, Language & Hearing Sciences

What: The Combs Language Preschool serves children ages 2 to 5 years with speech and language difficulties.

Where: Inclusive Playground (weather permitting)


OT faculty member Bill Janes uses a 3D printer to create adaptive equipment for people with disabilities.

AT-AT Lab and Go Baby, Go! makes life better for people of all ages

Who: William E. Janes, OTD, MSCI, OTR/L, FAOTA, Academic Fieldwork Coordinator and Assistant Professor, Department of Occupational Therapy

What: Dr. Janes uses technologies like 3D printing, microcontrollers, adaptive clothing, robotics, and toys to create customized assistive technologies for – and with – people who need them.

Where: 211 Clark Hall (2nd floor)

Rehabilitation Lab Demonstration – Improving lives while having fun

Who: Rachel Wolpert, OTD, OTR/L, FAOTA, FACRM, Occupational Therapy Associate Chair for Research and Associate Professor, Department of Occupational Therapy

What: Assisting adults who are rehabilitating from stroke, brain injury, or other challenges, Dr. Wolpert’s research utilizes virtual reality-based occupational therapy interventions to improve the health and well-being of participants.

Where: Clark Hall lobby (first floor)


Sonography Demonstration

Who: Alice Townsend, MBA, BHS, RDMS (AB, OB/GYN), RVT, Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound Program Director and Assistant Teaching Professor, Department of Clinical & Diagnostic Sciences

What: Using state-of-the-art simulation equipment, Professor Townsend provides a sneak peek at the training Mizzou ultrasound technologists receive in her program.

Motion Analysis Center – Detecting concussions & cognitive declines, preventing falls, and much more!

Who: Trent M. Guess, PhD, Associate Professor, Encompass Health Professorship, and Jamie Hall, PhD, PT, PCS, DPT, Associate Teaching Professor, Department of Physical Therapy

What: The Mizzou Motion Analysis Center combines the tools of engineering with clinical expertise to assess and address health challenges faced by all age groups.

Where: 9J Clark Hall (basement)
