Enid Schatz joins HIV-focused commission

Oct. 21, 2024

Enid Schatz, professor of Public Health and associate dean of the University of Missouri Graduate School, is part of the Lancet HIV Commission on Aging and HIV, an initiative led by Amy Justice from Yale University and Keri Althoff from Johns Hopkins University.

The Commission is dedicated to crafting actionable recommendations to improve both the quality and lifespan of individuals aging with HIV worldwide, while also addressing disparities within this growing population.

Schatz is a member of working group two of five, focusing on the unique prevention, screening and diagnostic challenges faced by older adults living with HIV. A comprehensive report that will include work from the five different working groups is expected to be published in late 2025.

The Lancet HIV Commission on Aging and HIV looks to provide innovative solutions to improve health policy and practice surrounding the rising number of older adults with HIV, making the work of Schatz and the rest of the Commission especially timely.
