Oct. 14, 2024
The 2024 Master of Health Administration (MHA) Fall Institute was held Sept. 19-20 at Stotler Lounge in Memorial Union at the University of Missouri. This highly anticipated annual event brought together a record number of alumni, students, alumni board members, faculty, staff and friends for two days of networking and professional development.
The event commenced with an engaging Early Careerist Panel, moderated by Emmy Bonderer Matthews. The panel featured esteemed alumni Kendyll Bailey, Quinton Collins, Dave Gardner and Caroline Maggio. The panelists’ valuable insights on authenticity, mentorship, workplace culture and networking set an inspiring tone for the entire event.
Thursday evening saw the formal festivities kick off with a welcome reception and dinner, including remarks from MHA Program Director Sue Boren and Health Management & Informatics Alumni Organization Board President Dexter D’Costa. The event also provided an opportunity to honor past president Tim Kephart for his exceptional contributions to the alumni organization.
On Friday, attendees participated in networking sessions and insightful presentations from nine MHA alumni. Sessions touched on topics like empathetic leadership, transition of care and hospital management, culture and AI, and cutting-edge trends in health care management. A panel discussion featuring accomplished alumni Anshu Jindal, Tim Kephart, Brandi Meyers, Ken Shapiro and Curran Eigelberger provided valuable career insights and advice for current students.
Thank you to alumni speakers Lindsey Lehman, Matt Wenzel, Jeannine Adams Phillips and TJ Sweet for sharing their expertise. And a special thanks to Emmy Bonderer Matthews, Dan Vogel, Curt Hohman, Dexter D’Costa, Diki Lama and the Department of Health Sciences for their invaluable support in planning this year’s Fall Institute.
