Julie Kapp appointed to APHA board

Julie Kapp, an associate professor of public health with the University of Missouri’s College of Health Sciences, has been appointed to the Publications Board of the American Public Health Association (APHA).

Dr. Kapp was selected to serve a three-year term on the APHA Publications Board. Her term will run from November 2023 until November 2026.

The APHA works to advance the health of all people and all communities. As the nation’s leading public health organization, it strengthens the impact of public health professionals and provides a science-based voice in policy debates. The association is at the forefront of efforts to advance prevention, reduce health disparities and promote wellness.

In her role on the Publications Board, Dr. Kapp will help provide important information and insights about the science and practice of public health related to the business of publishing. This will include identifying outstanding individuals or institutions with significant expertise and influence in areas of strategic publishing concern, facilitating communication between APHA Press and editorial resources, and identifying developments that might yield strategically valuable publications.

Dr. Kapp is nationally recognized by the American College of Epidemiology as a fellow for her significant and sustained contributions to the field. She is a Malcolm Baldrige Executive Fellow, a competitive distinction bestowed by the U.S. Department of Commerce Undersecretary for Standards & Technology. Her work has been highlighted in The New York TimesPsychology TodayUSA Today and Yahoo! Health.
