Mathew Kimaku receives prestigious Remington R. Williams Award
June 27, 2025

Congratulations to health science major Mathew Kimaku on receiving a Remington R. Williams Award from the University of Missouri Board of Curators.
Kimaku, a senior at Mizzou, was one of seven University of Missouri System students to receive the accolade. The award is given in memory of Remington Williams, who served as student representative to the board from 2020 to 2022.
Kimaku is pursuing degrees in health science and nutrition and exercise physiology and minors in chemistry and biology while preparing for medical school.
Outside the classroom, Kimaku served as president of the Alumni Association Student Board and vice president of the Omicron Delta Kappa honor society. He also works as a care tech associate in the University Hospital’s emergency department.
“His ability to inspire and deliver results, often in a volunteer capacity, is remarkable,” said Todd McCubbin, executive director of the Mizzou Alumni Association. “He didn’t simply maintain the status quo — he leveraged his role to improve and innovate campus traditions, leaving a lasting impact on the Mizzou community.”
Remington R. Williams Award recipients are proven leaders in and out of the classroom, demonstrating outstanding character and making a significant impact throughout the UM System. Honorees receive $1,000 and a leadership medal to wear at commencement.
