Commencement is coming up on Saturday, May 11, and we’re highlighting some of the incredible students who will soon be alumni of the College of Health Sciences.

Read on to learn more about Aspen Green of Kansas City, Missouri, who is completing her Bachelor of Health Science in Health Science with an emphasis in health and wellness.

What does graduating from the Mizzou College of Health Sciences mean to you?

Graduating from Mizzou means the world to me because I am a first-generation student. So, this is really important to me and my family. I am so happy to make them proud!

What was one of your favorite classes within your degree track?

My favorite class in my degree track was Clinical Ethics. I truly felt like I learned the most about being in the medical profession from that class and the scenarios I would be faced with.

What activities have you been involved in along the way?

I have been a part of Dream Outside the Box, the Minority Association of Pre-Health Students, and the Mizzou Rec basketball league.

Who helped you during your college journey?

Most importantly, my parents helped me so much during this journey. I truly don’t think I could do it without them and my siblings, my college roommates and other friends I met while attending Mizzou.

What memories stand out from your time at Mizzou?

One memory that stands out was this year was when we stormed the field after beating K-State. I never did that before at Mizzou, so that is a core memory.

What are your plans after graduation?

My plan is to take a gap year and then attend an occupational therapy school in Texas.

What advice do you have for current and future students?

I would say don’t ever change for anyone and give yourself grace. We all make mistakes, but that is how we learn and grow.

I’m so thankful that Mizzou brought such great people into my life and the experiences the institution brought me I will remember forever! M-I-Z
