What does graduating from the Mizzou College of Health Sciences mean to you?
Graduating from the University of Missouri College of Health Sciences means so much more to me than earning a degree. It represents years of hard work, growth, challenges, and unforgettable experiences that have shaped me into the person I am today. Through every class, internship, and opportunity, I discovered my passion for helping others improve their health and quality of life, and I’m proud to be entering a field where I can truly make a difference.
What was one of your favorite classes within your degree track?
One of my favorite classes within my degree track was my health science internship with Stay Strong, Stay Healthy. It gave me the opportunity to apply what I learned in the classroom to real-life experiences while working with older adults and helping promote strength, mobility, and overall wellness. This experience strengthened my passion for helping others and showed me how meaningful it is to make a positive impact on someone’s quality of life through health and exercise.
What activities have you been involved in along the way?
Throughout my time at Mizzou, I’ve been fortunate to be part of experiences that have meant a lot more to me than just involvement on paper. Serving on the recruitment team for my sorority helped me build connections and be part of welcoming others into a community that became such an important part of my life. Participating in Greek Week’s canned food drive reminded me how powerful it is when people come together for something bigger than themselves.
One of the most meaningful parts of my college experience was my time with Camp Kesem, where I served as both head of operations and a counselor. Being able to support and spend time with children impacted by a parent’s cancer was incredibly humbling and gave me a deeper sense of purpose, compassion, and gratitude. I also volunteered at the Central Missouri Humane Society, which allowed me to give back in another way that was close to my heart. Each of these experiences has shaped me not only as a future health professional but as a more empathetic, grounded, and service-driven person.
Who helped you during your college journey?
My biggest support through my college journey has been my mom. She has been my constant source of encouragement, love, and strength, and I truly would not be where I am today without her support every step of the way. Whether it was celebrating my successes or helping me through challenges, she always believed in me even when I doubted myself. I am also incredibly grateful for my close friends and roommates who have made this journey so much more meaningful. They have been my support system through late nights, stressful weeks and everything in between. I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to grow alongside during college.
What memories stand out from your time at Mizzou?
Some of my favorite memories from my time at Mizzou are the moments that made college feel so full and meaningful. Winning Homecoming our senior year is something I will never forget — it was such an exciting and proud moment to share with my friends after all of our hard work. My time with Camp Kesem also stands out as one of the most impactful parts of my college experience. The connections I made and the memories created there are ones I will carry with me forever, and it truly shaped my perspective in a lasting way.
Alongside those bigger moments, I also cherish all the little celebrations in between — birthdays, late-night laughs with friends and roommates, and the everyday memories that made Mizzou feel like home. Those simple, joyful moments are what I’ll miss the most.
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to continue my education by attending physical therapy school with the goal of building a career in sports physical therapy. I’m passionate about helping athletes recover, perform at their best, and prevent injuries through movement and rehabilitation. I hope to combine my background in health sciences with my love for sports and exercise to make a meaningful impact on people’s lives and help them return to doing what they love.
What advice do you have for current and future students?
My advice for current and future students is to truly be yourself and not be afraid to stand out or take your own path. College can feel overwhelming at times, but the most meaningful growth often comes from saying yes to new opportunities-even the ones that feel uncomfortable or uncertain at first. Some of my best experiences are memories coming from stepping outside my comfort zone, and I would encourage others to do the same, because you never know how much those moments will shape you.
