What does graduating from the Mizzou College of Health Sciences mean to you?

Mizzou was where I completed my undergrad, and I have been so incredibly blessed to be able to complete my OTD here as well. I met people who are now like family and had the most incredible faculty to support us along the way.

What was one of your favorite classes within your degree track?

Adult Practice.

What activities have you been involved in along the way?

I was a volunteer with Disabled Athletes Sports Association (DASA) swim and a member of SOTA. I had the privilege of treating clients at the TigerOT clinic as well as a local preschool. Finally, I was able to complete my Doctoral Capstone, which focused on teaching line dance to older adults to enhance social participation!

Who helped you during your college journey?

I wouldn’t be where I am today without the incredible support of my family, my friends, and my boyfriend. They were always there to cheer me up and encourage me throughout the process. My parents, in particular, were so supportive of me achieving my dreams and helping me along the way with anything I needed!

What memories stand out from your time at Mizzou?

Mizzou really allows for the opportunity to apply your knowledge outside the classroom, so being able to use the skills we learned in clinic was really memorable. I remember the first few times we were put in more clinical situations, I was so nervous, but after having hands-on experience, it made me more confident in my abilities as a future practitioner!

What are your plans after graduation?

I accepted a job at an outpatient hand clinic in Wichita, Kansas. I am hoping to someday become a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT)!

What advice do you have for current and future students?

My advice is to try not to wish away your current stage of life for another stage. Life really does fly by, so try to soak everything in! In addition, don’t be too hard on yourself — everything will work out!
