What does graduating from the Mizzou College of Health Sciences mean to you?
Graduating from the Mizzou College of Health Sciences means achieving a goal that has challenged and shaped me both academically and personally. It represents perseverance, resilience, and a passion for helping others. I am proud to be part of a community that prioritizes innovation and patient-centered care, and I look forward to applying what I’ve learned to make a positive difference.
What was one of your favorite classes within your degree track?
One of my favorite classes within my degree track was Pediatric Practice. It strengthened my clinical reasoning and understanding of child development through a client- and family-centered approach. Most importantly, it helped me discover my passion for pediatrics and solidified my desire to work with children in my occupational therapy career.
Who helped you during your college journey?
Throughout my college journey, I have been supported by my family, friends, peers, and professors. Each has played an important role in my growth. My professors provided academic and professional guidance, while my family, friends, and peers offered encouragement, motivation, and support that helped me stay focused on my goals.
What memories stand out from your time at Mizzou?
One memory that stands out to me is the lifelong friendships that I have made in the OTD program, which have been an important source of support and encouragement throughout my time at Mizzou. Additionally, our cohort trip to the Lazy P before leaving for fieldwork is one of my favorite memories, as it was a meaningful opportunity to connect with peers, reflect on our journey so far, and celebrate our shared experiences before beginning the next phase of our schooling.
What are your plans after graduation?
My plan after graduation is to work in St. Louis in an inpatient setting at a pediatric hospital and an outpatient pediatric clinic.
What advice do you have for current and future students?
My advice to current and future students is to trust the process and give yourself grace along the way. Be open to new experiences and take advantage of the resources and support systems available to you. College can be challenging, but it is also a time for growth and discovery. Lean on your support system, stay open to learning opportunities, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone.
