The Mizzou College of Health Sciences congratulates Katharine Horzmann, MPH ’10, for receiving the 2025 Zoetis Distinguished Veterinary Researcher Award.
A Missouri native, Horzmann earned a bachelor’s degree, a Master of Public Health and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Mizzou. She was among the earliest graduates of the Department of Public Health’s veterinary public health emphasis area.
Now an associate professor in the Department of Pathobiology at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, Horzmann is nationally recognized for integrating biomedical research with clinical‑diagnostic service in toxicologic pathology.
The Zoetis Distinguished Veterinary Researcher Award honors early‑career faculty who demonstrate exceptional research productivity and meaningful contributions to advancing veterinary medicine. Horzmann has secured a major NIH R15 research award and published 29 peer‑reviewed articles as a first or corresponding author. Her research explores the connections among environmental, veterinary and human health.
