Jason Semple

What classes are you teaching this semester?
I will be teaching Contemporary Health Issues.
Tell us about yourself. What is your background?
I earned my bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy from Missouri State University in 2012. Then I earned my master’s in health administration and my doctorate in health sciences from A.T. Still University, with research on interprofessional collaboration in intensive care units. I spent eight years as a full-time clinician working in respiratory therapy, and I have spent the past five years in higher education in Utah.
What brought you to Mizzou? To your field?
This is my first semester at Mizzou! Much of my clinical and educational career has been centered around the respiratory therapy profession, and I am looking forward to connecting with students who are interested in a wide range of health disciplines.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
Connecting with students who are just starting their journey into health care and sharing my experiences with them.
What has you excited for this semester?
Meeting all the new faculty, staff and students in such a big department!
What is a fun hobby or activity that you enjoy outside of work?
Tennis and hiking.
Share a memorable moment from your time teaching – something funny, touching, or just downright unforgettable!
I have enjoyed seeing students progress into working professionals who are excited about making a difference in health care. I am always thrilled to see former students pursuing advanced degrees in health and science.
What is your hidden talent?
I’m really good at Ping-Pong.
