March 22, 2021 Before joining the School of Social Work at the University of Missouri, Professor Kelli E. Canada worked as a community clinical social worker in Chicago. There, many of her clients struggled with mental illness and were dealing with long stints in the prison system. Clinical faculty among first to receive COVID-19 vaccine

When MU Health first started vaccinating health care workers, Jenny Keely, associate clinical professor in respiratory therapy, was among the first to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. March 17, 2021 The Department of Physical Therapy is proud to highlight the scholarly activity of Mizzou DPT faculty, clinical partners, and students at the 2021 Combined Section Meeting of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA). Cheri Ghan creates scholarship fund for student ambassadors

If you’re struggling to believe in yourself, you always have one person in your corner: Cheri Ghan. A former journalist, Ghan came to Mizzou in 2006. Originally hired to manage communication for the School of Health Professions, she now leads student recruitment efforts for the school. Alexandra Lewis: Veteran, scholar and educator

Alexandria Lewis is a U.S. Army veteran and assistant teaching professor in the MU School of Social Work. Lewis joined the Army in 1993, and served in the Army band, also known as the infantry band. “I was a flute/piccolo player,” Lewis said. “One of my responsibilities included driving a bus to event locations to perform. I earned the Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver-W Bar from this role.” While serving, she also received the Fort Rucker, Alabama, Soldier of the Month and Soldier of the Quarter. Another accomplishment that Lewis is proud of is her promotion to Sergeant (E-5).

Mansoo Yu appointed associate editor of the Journal of the Society for Social Work and Research

March 1, 2021 Mansoo Yu, professor of social work and public health in the School of Health Professions, has been appointed associate editor of the Journal of the Society for Social Work and Research (JSSWR). The journal is published by the Society for Social Work and Research, which is the premier social work research professional community. Yu’s research has been focused on health disparities and the interconnections of mental health, physical health and health risk behavior. His goal is to generate scientific evidence that practitioners in the field can use to better meet the needs of their clients.
