June 1, 2021 (Updated Oct. 22, 2021)

Tim Wolf, professor and chair of the Department of Occupational Therapy, has been selected to serve as Associate Dean for Research starting Oct. 1, 2021. The few months’ overlap in titles with Judith Goodman, who will retire after the Fall 2021 semester, will facilitate a smooth transition of responsibilities and continued momentum in research activities. Through restructuring of responsibilities in the Department of Occupational Therapy, Dr. Wolf will also continue to serve as chair of the department.

“Dr. Wolf is an accomplished scientist with a robust and meaningful research program,” Dean Kristofer Hagglund said. “He has secured extensive and sustained external funding and built a solid foundation to continue his program for many years. His flexibility and creativity will be valuable skills as we build on the research foundation established by Dr. Goodman.”

Dr. Wolf’s research focuses on intervention to improve participation in everyday life activities for individuals who experience a neurological injury, such as stroke or cancer-related cognitive impairment. An expert in cognitive assessment and intervention, he has been the primary investigator (PI) or co-PI on 12 awarded federal and private grants and a key team member on three additional grants with a total of approximately $7.2 million in funding.

“It is a pleasure to be asked to serve as Associate Dean for Research for the School of Health Professions,” Wolf said. “I am looking forward to working with the Dean, department chairs and faculty to continue to advance the research mission for the school.”

Dr. Wolf has collaborated with dozens of other researchers and clinicians from a variety of disciplines — including physical therapy, radiology, medicine, nursing and social work — at institutions across the United States, Canada, Sweden and Australia. He has published more than 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 22 book chapters, served as primary editor of three occupational therapy textbooks, and is currently editor in chief of the premier international journal for occupational therapy, OTJR: Occupation, Participation and Health

Dr. Wolf holds an Occupational Therapy Doctorate and a PhD in Rehabilitation and Participation Science with an emphasis in neurorehabilitation, both from Washington University in St. Louis.
