Assessment and program effectiveness

Assessment of learning

A mastery score of 75% is required to pass our national ARRT registry exam. In accordance with this standard, Radiography Program faculty use the following mastery, plus/minus grading scale:

  • A = 97% – 100%,
  • A-= 93% – 96%,
  • B+= 89% – 92%,
  • B = 85% – 88%,
  • B-= 81% – 84%,
  • C+= 78% – 80%,
  • C= 75% – 77%.
  • C- = 70 – 74%
  • D+ = 67 – 69%
  • D = 63 – 68%
  • D- = 60 – 62%
  • F = 0 – 59%

Satisfactory completion of the course requires each of the following:

  1. An overall course average of > 75%.
    • If the overall course average is < 75% but >60% upon completion of the semester, an opportunity for remediation may be provided. The student may be allowed to retake the course the next time it is offered or may be recommended for academic probation or academic dismissal per Radiography Program policy.
      • Once any required remediation is successfully complete, the student will obtain an altered average of 75% (C).
      • If required remediation is not successfully completed, the student will fail the course. The student may be allowed to retake the course the next time it is offered or may be recommended for academic probation or academic dismissal per Radiography Program policy.
    • If the overall course average is <60% upon completion of the semester, the opportunity for remediation will not be offered. The student may be allowed to retake the course the next time it is offered or may be recommended for academic probation or academic dismissal per Radiography Program policy.
  2. A minimum competency of 75% is required. Any test for which a student obtains a score of less than 75% must be repeated until competency is attained. However, the first score will be used to calculate the final course grade.
  3. Satisfactory completion of all assignments. An incomplete (I) will be issued for any student having unsatisfactory completion of any assignment at the end of the semester. The incomplete will be changed to the appropriate letter grade when the assignment is completed successfully. If the assignment is not completed successfully before the beginning of the next semester, a zero will be entered for that assignment and the course grade will be reduced by 10%.

Program effectiveness data

Program Effectiveness is evaluated by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology as a measure to compare the quality of Radiography and Medical Imaging programs. The data considered for Program Effectiveness includes Credentialing Examination Pass Rate, Job Placement Rate, and Program Completion Rate. View Radiography Program Effectiveness Data.
