Current Health Sciences students will receive an email during spring semester with scholarship information and instructions to apply through Scholarship Universe.
About: Awarded to undergraduate students who demonstrate service to the School of Health Professions. Students must also demonstrate financial need and strong academic merit.
Qualifications:
- Must be an undergraduate student
- Demonstrated academic merit
- Demonstrated financial need (as reported by the Office of Financial Aid)
- Demonstrated leadership and service in the School of Health Professions
Additional application materials: One-page essay describing your leadership and service to the School of Health Professions.
Total award amount: $2,000 for academic year ($1,000 for fall semester and $1,000 for spring semester. Spring continuation is contingent on successful completion of the fall semester)

- Must have completed 24 hours of MU coursework
- Must be enrolled at MU for at least two semesters
- Minimum cumulative MU GPA of a 3.30
- Must demonstrate involvement in, and service to the School of Health Professions, its programs or services
Additional application materials: Please submit an essay of at least 250 words, but not more than two pages, answering the questions:
- What influenced your decision to pursue a career in health professions?
- What excites you about your future in health care?
- What impact do you hope to have through your professional work?
Total award amount: Minimum amount of $750 each
About: First preference shall be given to students with a demonstrated financial need as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid. Recipients must be in good academic standing.
Additional application materials: One-page essay outlining how these funds will help you pursue your goal and particular career in the field of Health Professions.
Total award amount: $5,000 per year
About: Awarded to a first-generation college student who is in the professional phase of their program in the School of Health Professions
Qualifications:
- Must be a first generation college student
- Must be in professional phase of their program
- Demonstrated merit (GPA 3.5 or higher)
- Demonstrated leadership and service in the School of Health Professions
Additional application materials: Essay of no more than one typed double-spaced page outlining your service and leadership activities in SHP. Include activities and organizations you are / have been involved in and how your involvement has benefited you personally and its value to your educational experience.
Total Award Amount: $750 per year
About: This scholarship is intended to support a School of Health Professions student with a physical disability who aspires to become a health care practitioner. This scholarship is meant to be renewable, as the donor’s goal is support a student throughout their undergraduate education as long as they remain in good academic standing and continue to pursue a program in The School of Health Professions. Preference may be given to students wanting to pursue a career involving direct patient care.
Additional application materials: Applicants must submit a 300–500 word essay outlining their career goals and how they plan to make an impact as a health care provider in the future.
Total award amount: $4,000 per year
About: This scholarship is provided by student ambassador alumni and others to support a current SHP undergraduate student member of the Student Ambassador Leadership Team.
Qualifications:
- Must be enrolled in coursework as an undergraduate in the School of Health Professions
- Be in good academic standing (3.0 GPA minimum)
- Be a current member of the Student Ambassador Leadership Team, with at least one full semester remaining.
- Demonstrated financial need (as reported by the Office of Financial Aid)
Additional application materials: 300-word statement of need including how your service as a student ambassador has impacted your academic preparation and expression your commitment to work in health care after graduation.
Total award amount: $500 per year
About: The fund shall provide one or more scholarship awards to students enrolled in School of Health Professions.
Qualifications:
- Academic achievement: Selection shall be based upon academic achievement.
- Other: In order to assist the University in achieving the goal of a diverse student body, this scholarship will be awarded to a black student enrolled in SHP. Recipient shall be an Undergraduate student who has successfully completed at least 30 hours of college credit hours or a Graduate/Professional Student.
- Preference shall be given to: students interested in doing research and/or who intend to pursue an advanced academic/professional degree; United States Citizens or lawful permanent residents; and students aspiring to teaching and/or academic research careers.
Additional application materials: Candidates shall, in addition to a completed scholarship application, submit:
- An essay (no more than two pages double spaced) addressing current and long-term career goals; and
- A letter of recommendation from a faculty member.
Additional information / disclosures
Amounts (both financial dollars and scholarship quantity) listed within each scholarship are determined annually. Therefore, the amounts listed should give students a general idea of the types of scholarships within the School of Health Professions and the amounts received. Students should refer to scholarship information sent to their Mizzou email annually for exact information. Scholarships applications open approximately Feb. 1 of each calendar year and are usually due the beginning of March. Scholarships are posted to student accounts the academic year following the application cycle.
