Students have unconventional final in Speech-Pathology class

This certainly wasn’t your average final exam! Dana Fritz, Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences clinical professor, coordinated an “Amazing Diagnostic Race” final for the first-year graduate students in her Diagnostics in Speech Language Pathology class. The students had to go through each step of a diagnostic as quick as possible to get to the finish line, similar to the “Amazing Race” TV show. They even had color-coordinated bandanas for each team! SLHS student Morgan Linneweh gets valuable research experience in Neurogenic Communication Disorders Lab

By Gracie Hedenberg If there is one thing Morgan Linneweh, a junior and student researcher in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, would tell her freshman self, it would be to embrace her mistakes because that’s how to learn. And Linneweh has learned a lot since she first stepped foot into Dr. Mili Kuruvilla-Dugdale’s Neurogenic Communication Disorders Laboratory her freshman year, including research terminology, how to analyze data from lip, tongue and jaw sensors, and the connections she can make within MU.  For about six hours a week, Linneweh works in her lab reviewing charts, analyzing speech errors and determining sentence…

School of Health Professions receives more than $400,000 to enhance student success

The School of Health Professions received six grants totaling $402,445 from the University of Missouri President’s “Enhancing Student Success at Mizzou” program. This funding will be used mostly to update technology and equipment in our clinical teaching labs.
