Ashley Givens receives Richard Wallace Faculty Incentive Grant

The Mizzou Alumni Association (MAA) recently awarded seven University of Missouri faculty members the Dr. Richard Wallace Faculty Incentive Grant. Since its launch in 1994, the MAA has provided start-up funds of about $700,000 to more than 300 junior faculty members for the initiation of research or professional development projects.

Respiratory Therapy receives elite Apex Recognition Award

Congratulations to our Respiratory Therapy programs, which received the Apex Recognition Award from the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC). Mizzou operates bachelor’s degree programs with an emphasis in respiratory therapy in Columbia and at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. March 1, 2021 Mansoo Yu, professor of social work and public health in the School of Health Professions, has been appointed associate editor of the Journal of the Society for Social Work and Research (JSSWR). The journal is published by the Society for Social Work and Research, which is the premier social work research professional community. Yu’s research has been focused on health disparities and the interconnections of mental health, physical health and health risk behavior. His goal is to generate scientific evidence that practitioners in the field can use to better meet the needs of their clients.

Congratulations to Caleigh Achim, a Health Sciences major who was named Intern of the Week at Sprekk Supply Group (SSG)! Tori Specketer represents SLHS as grad student board member

Feb. 26, 2020 Victoria (Tori) Specketer, MHS student in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, has been selected as the next Missouri Speech-Language Hearing Association (MSHA) graduate student board member. Specketer will start this executive board position on Aug. 1, 2021. The graduate student board member advocates for speech-language pathology and audiology students in Missouri.
