International student receives awards for COVID-19 research
By Shanley Silvey Ifeolu David Congratulations to Ifeolu David, a PhD student in Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, for receiving the Mary Elizabeth Guntermuth Award for Community Engagement and Graduate Professional Council (GPC) Excellence in Research Award this spring. Enid Schatz, professor and chair of the Department of Public Health, nominated David for the Guntermuth Award. David, who completed his MPH at Mizzou in 2019, assisted Dr. Schatz with a campus-wide study to assess the prevalence of COVID-19 on campus in Fall 2020. Interprofessional Education Day success
Sept. 2, 2021 Last week, more than 300 students from six Health Professions professional programs gathered for Interprofessional Education Day. Students participated in team-building activities and heard from public speakers Lauren and Colleen Murphy. Colleen wrote a book called “Murphys Don’t Quit,” chronicling their family’s story after Lauren suffered severe brain damage in a running accident. Interprofessional education prepares health care professionals to best care for their patients, their colleagues and themselves.
