April 20, 2022 Alexandria Lewis, assistant teaching professor in the School of Social Work, received the individual Shared Governance Award from the MU Faculty Council last week. The award recognizes a member of the MU community who has made a significant contribution to shared governance. Below are excerpts from her nominator’s letter. “She brings her years of service in the U.S. Army to the Military and Veterans Campus Standing Committee, on which she has served since 2018. A life of public service: Grace Nielson
April 14, 2022 Grace Nielson, a senior from Joplin, Missouri, knew she would dedicate her life to public service after her father passed away in the line of duty. At Mizzou, Nielson has gotten involved as a member of Tour Team, a peer educator for the RVSP Center, and undergraduate student representative for the Women’s Committee for the Chancellor. She is also a Truman Fellowship Finalist and Kinder Scholar. In the future, Nielson wants to go into political social work and create and lobby for domestic violence policies.
